Employee Communication & Surveys is a boutique Australian consultancy specialising in:

employee communication audits and research
employee communication processes, systems and strategies
employee communication workshops for communication specialists

tailored employee opinion and climate surveys (hardcopy and online)
research into organisational values (espoused values and values-in-use)

The consultancy is operated by me, Rodney Gray. My office is in Sydney, Australia. Consulting work is conducted throughout Australia and New Zealand (and sometimes in Asia, especially Singapore and Hong Kong). I work alone and with other leading consultants and consultancies, especially Scaffidi Hugh-Jones, depending on the nature of the consulting assignment.

My philosophy is that organisations can significantly improve their performance if organisational communication is well-managed, and if employees are consulted and involved, and their feedback sought. To be successful, proposed changes must be well researched. There is no such thing as "best practice" employee communication, only best practices for each of your internal audiences (or, strictly speaking, internal stakeholder groups). However, research over the past 30 years has produced "general guidelines" as to what communication practices and approaches are most likely to work. Even so, research is recommended.

I'm a guest lecturer to communication masters students at a number of Australian universities, and have been a lecturer and tutor to postgraduate and undergraduate communication students at UTS. I have been on the advisory boards of the IABC Research Foundation and the Australian Centre for Public Communication (at the University of Technology, Sydney).

The objective of this website is to make available articles and presentations on employee communication and employee surveys (particularly to masters students and interested practitioners). Hopefully my passion for excellence in employee or internal communication will be evident. Your feedback is invited.
